15mm Peter Pig AWI Line Introduced
Hi, I'm not sure if this is old news or not but Peter Pig have just introduced a new range "Washington's Army" for 15mm AWI. They say: "This is a new range for 2010. The range covers the American War of Independence or Revolutionary war. The rules will be called "Washington's Army". The rules will be released in April 2010 (hopefully) , hence the 2010 release date. We are making a few packs in order to try things out in terms of sculpting and the need for playtest figures. As packs are made they will be available here for purchase. WARNING. The range will not get going fully until January as there are many other things that need doing first (ACW, Samurai etc...). This means that you will not be able to buy complete armies straight away. Therefore you should buy these on the understanding that the first few packs will be on their own for a while whilst other things get done! Don't forget that many packs could be used for both sides." Currently they have five packs, seemingly plucked at random from the list to me, illustrated here: http://www.peterpig.co.uk/range5-awi.htm I think I'd need to look at these in the flesh because their ACW figures were nice but too distinguishable from OG and BH to really fit in for me (I tend towards mixing figures within units for ACW regiments). But they may well work for seperate units on the table. Shame they didn't have any guys in March Attack in the first batch or I might have been tempted to buy a few packs to see how they go. Still, as AWI has been pretty much an orphan child for 15mm ranges this is good to see in my opinion.

Thanks Littlearmies for the info. Have just bought a few packs from them I like the look of the rebels with hunting shirts advancing as i have just started to biuld my AWI armies with frikorp figure, and they dont have a figure advancing with huntung shirt on like PP does ,so they should fit in with my troops nicely as they are more 15mm than 18mm . and i know that they are well casted and high in detail as i have a 30yw army from them . well thanks agian for the pointer OH any of you lads got any figures from musket miniatures 15mm as i looked at there site and they have a big range of AWI . but not sure if they would fit in with my freikorp and minifigs troops i dont think they have a dealer in the UK. but hope i am wrong on that . happy gaming

Yeah! These little fellows look like they're worth a look see.

Hopefully this should be a good range of 15mm figures. Martin has been walking around some of the battlefields in the NJ PA area and getting information from a range sources. Rich.

Sadly, given what charming little figures their ranges are, PP are at the "small" end of 15mm and hence will need to be a complete range, as hardly anyone else's stuff will mix with them comfortably.

This might help with matching if you haven't already seen it:- http://www.deepfriedhappymice.com/html/awi.html (Unfortunately, "Up next: the artillery" has been there for a few years.....)

I've seen that ... as a matter of fact I studied the samples on that site endlessly before I eventually bought some Jeff Valent figures. Unfortunately, they don't have the Peter Pig figures for comparison. What makes you suspect this range will be short of stature?

All of their figures are just that little bit shorter than the products of other mainstream 15mm manufacturers nd these seem to be identical in terms of sculpting style. I got some of their pirates for a WSS project a while back and even the Dixon Marlburians were bigger, although Hallmark and early Freikorps were a good match. Nothing wrong with them - actually very characterful (and in a nice way, too - not a euphemism for "barely human") - but "true" 15mm and they seem to be one of those rare manufacturers who have avoided scale creep.
