1st Btn KGL
1810 - 1813 period;
Was the orginization the same as an english Regt? with a light coy &
Grenadier coy?
Regards,
I believe so, except that the light company had a rifle section/platoon. I can't recall off-hand whether that's "as well as" the normal two musket-armed platoons, or "in addition to", though.
As regarding the light & Grenadier coys.
Btn in line, are the Grenadiers to the right of the colours & light coy to the left ?(flank)
Regarding the colours, Kings colour to right & regt to left ?
Regards,
On parade, yes grenadiers at far right of the line, light company on the far left.
In action, light company out in front, often combined with those of other battalions in the brigade (I suspect this was the norm in "all-KGL" brigades). Grenadiers usually on the right, but could be in reserve, or I'm sure I've read somewhere that the grenadiers could even support the lights in the skirmish line if that was weak (or the enemy skirmish line was particularly strong).
King's Colour to the right, Regimental Colour to the left for all infantry regiments except the Foot Guards (theirs will appear to be the other way around, because the King's Colour is the all-crimson flag and the Regimental Colour is the Union-based company flag).
