28mm KGL Peninsular and !815 Hanoverian Militia
Looking at the reference books I have standard British figures are pretty close to the same. Am I right in this as I use a mixture of Elite and Front Rank figures?
If not can anybody point me in the direction of specific figure ranges.
Thanks for your help on this.
The KGL had standard british uniforms, red faced blue with stove pipe shako in the peninsula and belgic shako at Waterloo. Rats !!! The KGL lights were pretty much the same as the Rifles but with different patterns of buttons on the jackets so nobody will notice (I wish!) The KGL packs should be dark blue, I agonised over this for a while and then did them black, so that my blue faced figures in stove pipe shakos can be used for other units in the peninsula, and eg Hanovarian Landwehr at Waterloo. Hanovarian officers had yellow sashes around the waist. Most Hanovarian units faced blue, I've got a list stashed somewhere of those that were known, off the top off my head, two green and two yellow, one possibly black... I'll look it out.
I will probably relent later and do a couple of small units with blue packs and the correct belgic shako for behind La Haye Sainte though.
In the Peninsula the Hanovarians were on the French side ! They had red french style uniforms with blue facings and french shakos. There is a good article on the unit in an old WI but cant find it yet. Still looking
Elite and Front rank are what I use :D
Thanks Simon that is a great help. I might try a dark grey for the packs as blue and black would probably fade over time.

David
Nice re-enactor picture ! That shows the dark blue very well, darker than the blue facings but not as black as the shako. I paint my packs black and then dry brush ,when I do the whole figure as the final stage before basing, with with a pale grey. It works for me ! But I know its not quite right, now where's my tin foil hat gone ? It's them... they've moved it again so i cant stop the thoughts coming in... exit stage left muttering to self
Best X and Vinke X Hanovarian Landwehr , with blue facings and stove pipe shakos. Attached to Picton british left flank. Formed a large brigade square at one point in the battle ! All units approx 600men 30 figs
Kielmeinsegge X behind La Haye Sainte
Light unit in green rifle type uniform with black facings but no white piping
Line units belgic shakos, two yellow facings, one green, and last one blue or black
Flags feild in yellow with oak tree or leaping horse motif. GMB dont make them yet but I'll ask him to do some with my next order. I also would like a pale blue flag with a fleur de lys and Vive le Roi for my Chasseurs Britanniques. Totally made up of course !!!
There is also a neat little skirmisher unit in grey with green facings though I'm not sure too which brigade it was attached.
Yes ,very dark blue ,It looks black to me :)
