Age of reason compatibility
hi All. We currently play AoR but have our troops based in fours . This gives a battalion of 6 wide and 2 deep (they just look better). I have been thinking of changing the rules we use and I am interested in how the mechanics of DK works. Could we play without rebasing and having to create larger units ? All our cavalry are in 12s as are most of our infantry, with the odd unit at 18s (Austrians). Would welcome any feedback from anyone who has made the switch from AoR. Cheers Kev

AOR
Dear Kev, I have played both. It is my belief that you could use the smaller units for your game, but you would have to modify moving distances, ranges and casualties accordingly. Right now, all of my infantry units are all based in four stand units, with each stand in two ranks. In DK, 25% casualties requires moral checks and modifies rolls, similar to AOR. It's easier to keep track of this with the four stands, obviously, but can also be done with just keeping track of figures. The bottom line is that you could certainly try out the rules with your figures based as they are. Good luck.

Try them, they have merit. I can't fully endorse them as we are still trying them out but they have made for some fun evenings.

Thanks guys May pick up a set at the next show i'm visiting and give them a whirl. We enjoy GdB very much, so it seems logical to try DK. I will not be able to get the guys to change from F&F though for ACW. Mind you I really enjoy F&F also. Thanks for you replies Kev
