Austrian and for that matter Saxon flags
Just wondering as I am currently painting a battalion of the Austrian D'Arberg regiment as to how many flag bearers to base in the unit 1 or 2.
I ask since at the moment the command base will be looking something like;
Officer, Drummer
NCO, Flag Bearer
assuming 4 to the base so 6 bases of 4 for a unit of 24 at 1:40
If instead I do bases of 6 then I could do something like
Musketeer, Officer, Drummer
Flag Bearer, NCO, Flag Bearer (Not sure of the actual placement)
This would apply to both my Austrian and Saxon foot so any thoughts?
I am tempted to go to 1:20 long term so bases of 8.
German Austrian units had one white flag and one yellow flag in the first Battalion and two yellow in the 2nd.
For my Saxons I have one coloured and one white for each battalion, but that may not be correct,
See project SYW for more info.

I base Austrians on 3 bases of 8 figures.
The command base is one mounted colonel, 2 standard bearers, 2 officers, one drummer, and one pioneer, the colonel counting as two figures.
For 6 figure command bases, ie Kries, I use the same less one officer and the pioneer.
Sorry, just realised that I step the colonel forward, and put another figure behind him. This stems from Warfare in the Age of Reason, where bases were single rank. The above is for Napoleonics.
If you look at the photos on the Minden Thread carefully, you will see some Austrians and Kries mascarading as French. (we ran out of French).
Very helpful.
The current unit I'm doing is an Austrian/German second battalion so two yellow flags then. One or two foot officers, the NCO with that spear thing and a drummer rounding out the 6. Personally I tend to use mounted officers only in the first battalions.
It also looks like 4 bases of 6 may be more useful from my point of view than 6 bases of 4 for the line battalions.
