British Armoured Cars 15mm Besa
Just played first game under new rules Eastern Front and it went very well. So I was looking into organising a desert Game. Looking at the stats for the British Armoured Cars I see that the 15mm Besa is not represented. Was it that bad? I have read in the HSMO Book that the barrel was too long and had a tendency to "whip" after the first few shots of the burst so as a weapon it was disappointing but surely it was nearer a 0.5 HMG than nothing. Otherwise it would have been ditched after the Vickers light VIC. As it is my Humber A/Cs would be thrashed by SDKFZ 222s when I seem to remember the Humbers had the upper hand in real life. And the British would just have used the scout cars and Rolls Royce ACs until the Daimler arrived. Of course the real reason is that Vickers Light VI and Humber A/Cs just look too good to stay in the box.

M, Treat the 15mm Besa as a .50cal. As you say it was a bit disappointing as a weapon so a comparison to a 50cal is about right. DB

Thanks for that I was thinking of 1/1 with the range of an HMG. That way it has no extra effect against infantry than the co axial but is slightly better than an HMG against vehicles. This would actually make it less useful than an HMG in most cases and definitely not as good as a 20mm. However I suspect that this would be too much detail for the level of the game for only a few vehicles. Too many rule sets have been ruined by special rules that only effect a handfull of instances.
