Can someone identify these figures?
Hi, Sometime ago I bought a joblot of figures from Ebay - these were mostly AB with some OG. There were 1809 Austrians and French plus a few 1806 Prussians and some early Russians. I've been slowly working through these and have come across the figures pictured: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44191137@N04/4073522292/ From the sculpting quality I'm sure they are ABs but, having gone through the images on the Fighting 15s website I don't seem to be able to see these - can anyone identify them? Thanks Malcolm

they should be AB figures since they aren't of the Warmodelling (Fantassin) line. maybe early french cavalry or some officers pose not displayed on the online catalogue

They look like AB 1806 'Jena' Prussian cavalry to me, noting that not all pose 'types' are shown in photographs on Eureka's or Fighting 15's sites.

Malcolm - I can be definitive on the manufacturer but not the figures, they are definitly early Battle Honours , created by Tony Barton .My guess is they are from the Revolutionary Wars range - the arms look like they have been bent in to a new position but I would think they are the Austrian Dragoons/Chevaux-Leger 1798-1805.Hope this helps. By the way great pictures of the Wagram game. Martin

By the way great pictures of the Wagram game. Martin That would make sense as I turned up quite a few of the early Austrian infantry. They are lovely figures but won't really fit into any of my armies (of course neither will the AB Peninsula Brits I am painting at the moment but one has to draw the line somewhere) so I guess I'll put them to one side for the moment. I think the early BH range as sold in the US was packaged in units of nine cavalry (officer, trumpeter, standard bearer and six rankers) as this how I keep turning things up - does anyone have a use for the Cuirassier Standard Bearer? As for the pics I guess my wife's Sony camera is idiot proof if I can successfully use it! I was pleasantly surprised at how well so many of them turned out. Thanks for the response, Malcolm

Malcolm If you are doing some Peninsular units then these look reasonably close to Spanish line or dragoon cavalry. Martin

They would have to be pre-1798 Austrian cavalry as they were in helmets post-98. It is difficult to be sure, but they might be 1790s Austrians.

Von Kleist - I wasn't really planning to go any further than painting a couple of battalions of British Line that I had - they didn't really fit in with any plans I had but were calling out to me to do something with them. Starting on Spanish cavalry squadrons could see me buying even more figures from Ian Marsh. This year's New Year Resolution was to paint two figures for every one I buy...and I've failed dismally as I bought about a 1000 Polly Oliver figures from eBay a month or so ago. Given my "best" painting rate is usually a dozen figures a week I suspect I have about 5 years worth of unpainted lead in boxes around my flat - I have looked at the Peninsula and thought "smallish armies, colourful units from lots of different countries...why not" but have successfully resisted so far.
