Dispersal Point
In two games we have reached the theoretical dispersal point of units in combat on 3 occasions, all of which has led to a robust debate (argument) over what this actually is.
OK, we are fine on the basics. Once 50% or more casualties are taken, the theoretical dispersal point is reached. We are then to take a morale test in the FOLLOWING morale phase. But units which reach dispersal point in melee use the result to determin whether they pass dispersal point check.
Now, if a unit in melee is reduced to 50% in that round of combat and loses, does it immediately disperse?
OR as a unit doesn't test normally until the following morale phase (by this it has been taken to mean the morale phase of the NEXT turn rather than this turns morale phase), does a unit reduced in combat wait a further turn and only if still in combat (and loses again) will it disperse?
I hope this makes some sense. I'm confused and I wrote this!

Dispersal Point
Hi
"if a unit in melee is reduced to 50% in that round of combat and loses, does it immediately disperse?" - Yes. I believe units which are reduced to 50% or less strength while in a melee and lose the melee are immediately dispersed. If they win the melee, then they pass the dispersal point. Reference Dispersal Point under Morale Section.

Steve
Thanks,
That's how I read it.

Ants, you are reading it correctly, although to be strictly correct it would not disperse immediately after the melee result, but in the Morale Phase which follows in that same turn. I know that effectively this makes no difference to what happens, but I found it easier to follow when I was starting out - think about the morale phase as a single point in time, so that everything that happens before the point of testing comes into play.
Nice to hear from you Rudorff.:D
I thought you had disappeared!
Not yet  been busy with other things, and Bryce has been doing such a good job there didn't seem any need to duplicate.
Hi Chook
Yeah this has caused us problems in the past and I am glad to see the end result is as we now play it.
We generally remove them at the end of the melee but place a dispersal marker where they were as to allow the unit tests later.
