Jan thanks for all these great links :D , I have the Funken books but some of the other sites are new to me. Do you have any suggestions where I might get some uniform guides for the Dutch army that fought alongside the Duke of York :? ? That first Coalition against the French appears to be very colourful with German states, Emigres ,Austrians and British all fighting together. I have found out quite a bit about these other forces but the Dutch uniforms are proving more difficult to track down. I seem to think that the uniform was Prussian insired and I read some where the cut and look was very similar, can you add any more ? By the way your own website is a constant source of inspiration thank you for your efforts. :D Martin

Martin, thanks, hoped they would be of help. The best source for the dutch uniformes is the vinkhuyzen collection http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgtitle_tree.cfm?title_id=614966&level=2&tword= On our own website (www.aldegarde.nl) I have started with the information about the dutch army in this period (goto http://www.aldegarde.nl/ ->historical info) I hope in the coming month to have al the pictures sorted out for the army plus organisational info. Other info is on http://home.wanadoo.nl/g.vanuythoven/home.htm who also wrote on http://www.napoleon-series.org/ See under Military subjects: organisation, stategy and tactics
