GaG and GDB questions , applicable to both I think.
A couple of questions from a GaG game tonight , photos to follow. 1) If my retreating Cav lose combat but roll a double 6 do they still lose combat ? 2) Can an infantry unit in line , oblique move ?

Well if it's anything like BG!:- Regarding the double 6 issue on 'losing' combat - have they lost combat and are retreating as a result, or do you mean - they have been forced to retreat from a combat despite rolling a double 6? Rolling a double 6 doesn't automatically cause you to win. Generally if you roll a 12 you'd be the winner without taking into account bonuses/penalties, but still... AIUI It applies certain automatic effects before it's modified (such as increasing your casualties caused, risk to enemy general?) but then after modifiers you may still lose combat. Oblique move - sidestep?

The Cav were already retreating , and were being pursued. They were at a big minus in comabt , I think it was -8 , but rolled a double 6 :) I guerss it was too late .. By Oblique I mean a 45 degree advance. Not a side step , I know the rules don't allow a side step .

K, Retreating unit should only have a -6 modifier - as this includes the unformed modifier...not that it helps much!! Oblique - carry out this manoeuvre by simply wheeling the line while stationary until the required angle, then marching off. DB
