New GDB Napoleonic Rules
Will there be page numbers in the new forthcoming version of the rules? It would be useful and I would have thought normal for any publication.

The page number debacle was due to some technical issue at the printers. I have been assured that this has now been resolved and persons responsible sentenced to life in the colonies.

and persons responsible sentenced to life in the colonies
Dr B, surely nowadays it would be a punishment for someone living in the colonies to be sent to live in the UK.....
Thank you Giles, considering the state of our economy, notwithstanding our loss in the Ashes test matches, I too might agree. On the other hand , I have a soft spot for the UK having visited and toured a number of times over the years and am blessed with a number of close friends in the south.
As to the rules and the page number issue, the rules are complex and require a great deal of referencing backwards and forwards particularly for the novice. Page numbering is critical. The job of the editor is to ensure that a work makes it to publication fully resolved and accurate. My wife is a writer and editor and couldn't understand how it would have gone to print. This is a commercial product and as such the issue needs to be dealt with seriously.

By that I presume you mean the disloyal colonies (i.e. USA). The rest of us have become quite respectable (except for the odd rugby league player).

And another thing...... with further reading from Chapter 9 all pages are incorrectly noted in the contents. I attempted to number the pages to allow me some ease in referencing and the copy does not coincide with the contents. For example:
Chapter 10 Skirmishers should be on page 35. It is in fact on page 33. This throws out the sections that follow.

S,
I do appreciate where you are coming from - but I am not in a position to rectify what has already happened.

Partizan press does not employ an Editor. Whether they should, of course, is another debate.

I cannot answer for this aspect of understanding as it’s based on an assumption that I have control over the reprints - unfortunately I do not have the element of control of the production of the product as you assume I have.

Quite so - I have spent many hours going over the text with the "designer" for the next edition to ensure that such things do not occur. (That is in addition by the way to my usual day job, etc, etc.) However I do not receive a copy once it has gone to the printers - and as such cannot pick up a lack of page numbers - which were in the original edition but failed to materialise after printing.
Appreciate you may be a little annoyed with one copy that is awry – but consider how I feel having to deal with 1000! You may have felt I was being somewhat facetious, well, I was, but you are going to have to forgive me on that one, as I'm well past the point of being angry (which obviously I initially was!) - as prolonged resentment rarely achieves a great deal.

Thanks David for the full picture. Perhaps my observations might have been more aptly directed at the publishers.
Cheers

Dave,
Could you please ensure that at least one reference to 'Flattering' remains on the playsheet? It wouldn't be the same without it...
:)
Any news yet on the new rulebook, ie have I got a christmas pressie coming or birthday (june) or we talking yonks away.
K,
The anniversary of Waterloo may be nearer the mark!

Is that 250th or 300th?
