New Goodies From AB Word reaches your faithful scout of some most interesting developments - some fab new sculpts from Tony Barton :D
1. Young Guard for the 1809 campaign - already released in limited form in the US, but on their way to the rest of us !
2. Young Guard for 1813-14 - apparently are also in the pipeline and could be with us by spring or summer next year.
3. Some new personality figures including, rumour has it, a Ney and a Murat.
4. Further down the line, there is apparently a plan to do Austrians and Brits in greatcoats...

Could either of these Young Guard ranges be used for Westphalians? I'm thinking particularly of the problem of fusiliers with cross-belts, instead of the single cartridge box/bayonet belt.
Greystreak- 12-11-2008
Ronan, I'm curious about your concern (and source) for Westphalian fusiliers having only 'single' cross-belts (ammo pouch), as I have two sources which show them with 'both' cross belts in different periods: J. Elting/H. Knotel, Napoleonic Uniforms - Vol. III; and G. Nafziger & M. Gilbert, The Bavarian & Westphalian Armies: 1799-1815. Just wondering if the use of single belts was a 'temporary' logistical constraint, subsequently rectified whilst on campaign?
Ronan the Librarian- 12-11-2008
Bryce,
No, that was my point - that the Westphalian fusiliers DID have two belts (as you rightly say), but that there are no suitable AB figures to represent them, as all French non-flank/elite figures have the single combined belt.
Sorry, didn't put it clearly.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Still nothing on the Eureka web-site. Does your mole have a timescale for world-wide release?
Eclaireur- 12-30-2008
Lasalle
the Young Guard releases are apparently destined for spring - with some hope they might be available for Salute. Not sure whether they'll do this in two waves - 1809 YG and then 1813-14 YG, cos the 1809 guys are already sculpted and have even been sold on ltd scale in the US...

I bought some young gaurd figures at MOAB n 2008, as well as NEY ... who looks quiet resplendit without his hat !
Craig- 01-01-2009
Longtan,
Does the Ney figure look similar to this one?
The last time i talked with Mr Barton he had considered doing 3 Murat figures, early, middle & Late.
I`d realy like to see the Sailors of the Garde done :D

Craig please be careful when posting pix of the new Ney figure here - Dr Brown may come down with some kind of heart mumurs resulting from a sudden rush of bood to certain body parts... You see, he idolises the man :D
