No big AWI game this year?
From the announcement about Wagram on the GdeB forum I guess there are no plans now to do another game as per Long Island last year?
Although I do like my 15mm lads it was nice to see all those glorious 28mm troops in action. Ah well, maybe next year?

I really liked those pics and found them very inspiring.I hope they change their minds and do another. :)
Yes I'm sorry to say that it hasn't been possible. In fact neither Dr Brown nor I had the time to organise the mega game this year due to our work and family commitments. The Wagram game grew out of a Loughton club project. The leading lights in that have found the venue for the Wagram game and were never looking to put on two simultaneous large games.
Realistically, it will be spring 2010 before we can give serious thought to the next AWI spectacular - but Dr Brown has kindly suggested organising an 'AWI only' event to level the score with the Napoleonics some point next year.
So let's keep fingers crossed for next year.

Paul,
Same goes for me, too, I'm afraid (although my involvement was limited to the venue itself and ensuring that the draught Guinness was being kept to the right standards). We did have a rather interesting idea for a "back to back" game over the weekend, but I'm sure it will wait until 2010; in the meantime, Eclaireur may welcome not having to spend his weekend umpiring for a change!
You're not wrong chum !
I will command an Austrian corps at Wagram and Dr Brown will be in the thick of it too. If we do a BG mega game next year, he will take part too. For both of us, the taking part in a two day game is much less work than marshalling the figs, terrain, and players to mount our own battle. So this year Dr B and I will just be pushing figures...

Having organised two big 15mm games now I know what you mean.
The plusses to being an umpire is the ability to provide the right amount of historical confusion and fog of war  and no stress in rolling the dice for the troops.
It is so humiliating to have your Guards bounced back by some pesky militia!!
