Peninsular 5) photos of The Battlesite of ROLICA
ROLICA 17 August 1808 Here's some photos of the battlefield of Rolica, Britiain's first real battle of the Peninsular War. Here we are, continuing our journey following Wellesley's August 1808 march south from Mondego bay to confront Junot. He's getting closer to Junot's rearguard all the time and his men are thirsting to get to grips with their enemy: perhaps this will be their first real chance. Meanwhile, Delaborde is close and determined to try to slow the British advance enough for re-enforcements to arrive. Will he succeed? _____________________________________________________________________________________ Peninsular: Mondego to Vimeiro 5) The Battle of Roliça Page 1.
