Returning to this topic after close to a year. The last time I posted I had 9 units of French done (assuming a unit was an infantry battalion, cavalry regiment, artillery battery etc. Now I have 28, so its been a busy year painting, now at 10 Ligne Infantry Battalions 5 Legere Battalions 2 Portuguese Battalions 4 Middle Guard Battalions 6 Cavalry Regiments (these vary in size from 12 figures for the smallest unit to 28 for the largest) 1 Artillery Battery I am currently doing a horse artillery unit as I'm a little light on finished artillery.

How many units
Interesting to see how far it has come on in almost 2 years. Tally now stands at: Prussians 21 inf bn (plus 4bn purchased) 6 bty, 5 cav regts (plus 2 purchased). Austrians 2 bn French 9 ligne 4 legere 2 bty 0.5 cav regts Italians 3bn. Clearly my laser-like focus has slipped.

You'll have to forgive me, since I can't figure out how to vote. I'm unfairly handicapped here since I started painting 15mm in the 1970's long before GdB. My earliest units are Russians, the original Minifigs on strips and two units of jaegers have made it onto GdB bases as I haven't the heart to throw then in the bin, besides which we have been through a lot together. First the units that don't count: WRG based Russians - 56 units (16 to 24 figures ea) Spanish - 22 units (6 to 16 figures) Empire Prussian Corps - 44 units (12 to 16 figures) The ones that count: GdB Russians - 12units (32 fig) Wurtembergers - 12units (32figs, cav 16) British - 46units (24 to 40 figs, 18 for cav) French - 96 (24/32/36figs, cav 18/24/30/48) That makes 154, but I may have missed the odd artillery battery, as its only a quick count. The intention is to convert all the armies to GdB. All were origionally WRG, but Empire came along and the Prussians were expanded. When GdB came out. the French were converted, with the British, both being massively expanded. Next on the schedule are the Spanish and the Russians, but a Kreis army intervened to Age of Empire. That looks like being expanded to those new rules from the GdB stable, that I can't pronounce, let alone spell.

How big is your army?
Like Chris I can't suss how to vote, sorry. I have dabbled in various scales and have figures from many manufacturers some of which mix well, others not so well! 6mm Russians (based on a Leipzig OB) 14 Battalions 2 Batteries 4 Cavalry Regts. 15mm Prussians (Dresden) 13 bns 1 battery 2 cav regts 25mm British (Talavera) 5 bns 1 battery 1 cav regt 25mm French/Poles/Germans/Dutch (Talavera) 9 bns 1 battery I make that 53 (only an apprentice megalomaniac judging by other posts) I'm trying to resist the lure of the American Revolution (and BG) until I finish at least one higher formation, but feel I'm slowly losing this.

Ah, this is when I get to show off a little bit:- My 15mm Collection:- In addition to appropriate numbers of skirmish, command stands, limbers and caissons:- Early Russians:- 12 x 32 line infantry; 2 x 24 line infantry; 6 x 24 Jaegers; 1 x 48 Uhlans; 2 x 6 gun batteries. Late Russians:- 21 x 32 Musketeers; 10 x 32 Jaegers; 6 x 32 Grenadiers; 6 x 32 Guard; 7 x 30 Cuirassiers; 4 x 24 Dragoons; 4 x 24 Cossacks; 2 x 48 Hussars; 1 x 48 Uhlans; and 5 x 6 gun batteries and crew Austrians 15 x 48 infantry; 3 x 36 infantry; 6 x 36 grenadiers; 4 x 36 grenzers; 2 x 36 Jaegers 4 x 32 Kuirassiers; 2 x 36 Hussars; 2 x 48 Chevaulegers; 5 x 4 gun batteries plus crew. Also a load of extra infantry command stands in appropriate facing colours so that I can break my 48 figure btns into smaller ones when necessary - very useful for the early campaigns. Duchy of Warsaw:- 14 x 36 infantry; 7 x 24 infantry; 3 x 24 Chasseurs a Cheval; 1 x 24 uhlans; and 4 x 4 gun batteries and crew. Italians:- 4 x 36 infantry. Westphalians:- 3 x 36 infantry Nassau:- 2 x 36 infantry Dutch:- 2 x 36 infantry Spanish:- 5 x 24 infantry Early Saxons:- 6 x 24 infantry; 2 x 24 grenadiers; 2 x 3 gun batteries. Also have sizeable French (early and Imperial), Prussian (early and late) and British armies - but I need to get home and go through the indiviual units before I can list them. :P O

Gents - just notcied teh point about painting prowess and should make it clear that I do not cliam to have painted up the entirety of my collection. On my best estimate, I have only painted some 40% of my various armies.

uriah_heep- 12-20-2008

i have over 8,000 25mm naps painted up with another 4000 to go which works out at lest 200 units painted up

valleyboy- 12-25-2008

Hmmmmm This is where I have to confess that by now despite having around 9000 15mm figs and am still buying more  I've just undercoated some British, some Austrian grenadiers and a few French Cuirassiers  Amassed since 1983 and all painted, some even stripped and re painted  by myself

How do I cast my vote? Can't seem to find the voting icon. Has this poll closed?

Eugene de B- 12-28-2008

Lasalle, You need to log in first, it then gives you the vote option. Eugene

Gentleman Johnny- 12-28-2008

Hello, Most interesting... I had not counted my little chaps before and was suprised at the result. A lot of my units consist of more than one battalion, being in either skermish/line if they are light troops or advance/line if not. Counting these as separate units I get the following: All are AWI for BG!: British 23Btn 606figs (inc 2x Loyalist militias and one Indian warparty) Brunswick/Hesse Hanau 15Btn 404figs Patriots/Continentals 25Btn 481figs French 10Btn 279figs All self-painted, so all qualify. Grand Total is 73 battalions, BUT, as at today; not counting the camp-followers/wagon-drivers/field labourers etc how many total figures are enlisted in my AWI armies??? 1776! Just as well I counted them last night or I'd've missed that milestone. Thank you for bringing it to my attention! (I've not posted any pictures yet as I am still struggling a bit with lighting :( , but the photographic results are improving :) . Hopefully I will be able to post some pix during '09. Having a Largely Enclosed and North Facing garden - in Manchester! - plus a very small 2nd floor {3rd floor in US} window in the wargames-attic does not assist in this!) PS Should I include the 23rds goat? (That would be 1777.) PPS Didn't include the British Napoleonic Rocket Battey either. GJ
