DKK played at weekend
Hi. I played a game of DKK last saturday using the playtest rules Angus sent to me late last year. I have to say that it gave me one of the best wargame experiences of my life. Using about 16 units a side (Prussian v Austro-French) I played another member of our local club (who had only used the GDB system- if I can call it that- twice before). We reached a decision in about 4 1/2 hours, and the game reflected all that I think the SYW period is about. The 2 cavalry wings beat the hell out of each other without really affecting the infantry firefight in the centre. And that was deadly. Never charge enemy infantry without softening it up first. I just want to congratulate the Tricorne triumverate for these rules. I shall be having more games soon and will post pictures when I have finished basing up my SYW hordes. Chris :D
