Sounds like the British Army is afraid to come on over. :)
Seriously ... If any of you ever get a chance to come to Historicon, it would be well worth the effort. The show runs four days (24 hours a day), tons of shopping, almost all the games allow for participation and Gettysburg is only a 30 minute drive.
If you ever think you can make it over ... I would be glad to host a game or two of BG! for you and get you over to Gettysburg if you need a ride.

This is Pennsylvania, sir! You can't swing a dead cat here without sending it through a historical landmark. In Lancaster itself, you have a city that was capital of the US for a day -- September 27, 1777. Nearby York, Pa., was capital for 6 months. And of course Philadelphia was the first (and should be the current) capital.
Valley Forge is nearby; as is Brandywine, Germantown, Fort Mifflin, etc.
And to be fair ... unless you're on a rocket sled, Gettysburg is closer to an hour and a quarter from Lancaster. All you first time visitors to Gettysburg, plan to spend more than a day there -- the battlefield is huge and the story is complex. And it's worth every minute.
The western side of the commonwealth sports the Bushy Run battlefield, Fort Necessity, and the Brig Niagra.

But back to your original point ... yes they seem scared.
I would be interested in future pick-up games at the HMGS conventions.
