First attempt at some game markers

Very nice markers from both you and Giles. All this talk about game markers reminds me of a game long ago. It was a large Franco-Prussian War battle, Froschwiler (sp?). There were three of us playing, one playing the Bavarians, one the Prussians and I had the French. I had my hands full to say the least. The Bavarians (played by a fellow named Eric) were attacking through the woods on the French left. There was also a stream and bridge. He kept charging out through the woods and across the stream only to be beaten back time and again. Playing against two opponents, I had my hands full and was constantly moving to different areas of the table. When the battle was over and they had left, I was picking up the game and I found a horde of casualty caps (those little back nubs everyone used back in the old days) lying hidden under the bridge. Seems that old Eric had simply discard them (or many of them) while my attention was elsewhere. We didn't invite poor Eric back too often after that. But the term "bridge of death" did take on a whole new meaning for us. :) As for markers for BG! I use some round wooden markers painted table-top green; one marker per DP. Figure casualties and orders I keep on paper. Mike B

I was just going to use gravel as suggested in the old Loose Files rules but it just seems too fiddly and untidy. I want the gradual disintegration and death of my army to be a neat and orderly affair! Andy

Following on from a link on TMP to the Koenig Krieg site(http://www.koenigkrieg.com/) they had some interesting markers that are apparently molded(?) and available for purchase but I've yet to find a link to them. Anyway, thought I'd try my own and would appreciate comments. Can't decide whether to do the numbers black on white or white on black as in the originals. Unit is DeLancey's picked up along with some other figs from York. Very nice and now rebased to match my own. Will be picking up some more from the same source soon! Andy

They're all done, Mark. Just haven't had time to post pics yet. Had spent ages this week getting everything ready for the first game of BG down at the club, yesterday. Unfortunately fate and the joys of family life intervened. Thursday the 8 month old puked. Friday night, the 3 year old, and Saturday morning I couldn't stray more than a few yards from either toilet or bucket! Not happy. Only a 24 hour job and all fine now but really annoying it stopped the game. Still, will post some pics of the new stuff soon. And still interested in the 71st by the way! Andy

Sweet! I particularly like the Grenadiers and Dragoons -- great detail on both. The 17th's skull and crossbones are rendered beautifully. What? No royal cipher on the front-plates of the grenadier's caps? hehe. Seriously, I am envious. When I start painting, I will no doubt be disappointed with my crude blotchy figures. Maybe I should dip my lads in blue paint, and then dip the British in Red to be done with it.

Nice markers!Simple,effective and still look quite nice.thank you for the idea. I'm putting in a few posts at the moment as I've been absent from the site for awhile. :lol:
