Brigade Retire
Just a question about Brigade Retire when a Brigade morale check is failed.
In our games it sometimes seems that this can be a good result for a struggling brigade and can get them out of an awkward situation - a quick retire chance to reform and come back. It does not seem to advantage the attacker that much to break a brigade.
I was wondering what the logic behind this is as I think it should be a harsher result to reflect a broken brigade... We now make the brigade test to rally each turn using the same brigade morale check with a -2 modifier.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Hi Andy
I think that the good and wise DrB is ahead of you here.
Check out the 2nd addition rule amendments that state.
Pg 45 Brigade Morale Test Table
Add extra line – Brigade has previously broken = -2

Yes - the extra bit we added was to require the brigade to rally on a morale chack... if the brigade has gone (eg) 60cm it can give the attacker an advantage to push forward whereas a 30cm retire often gives the defender a handy new defensive position and chance to reorganise.
