One suggestion: Pose the flag bearer with one hand on his hip and his nose in the air. More lace and a pointy beard might help too. Hehe.
Afraid these boys really are not my cuppa tea Giles. According to re-enactors the lime green may be okay but so are marriages between gays in many parts of the world nowadays. Don't think any man would have been allowed into battle wearing that colour - his regimental colleagues would have kicked the living daylight outta him or sent him off packing to Sherwood Forest to join Robin and his merry men!!! :lol:

I think the variety in colour is always a good look in raised battalions of this nature and theatre of war.

I really like these, particularly the range of green hues. In a time when there were no standard dyes and the dyes that did exist weathered very quickly, I suspect that the nice neat standard units that we are used to seeing were the absolute exception.
As to bk's comments, which I assume were tongue in cheek, I rather suspect that the rest of the unit would not have been too worried about what anyone was wearing as long as they stood and did their bit.
The British Army at this time appears to have had two greens - one a dark, bottle green (not dissimilar to the Napoleonic rifle green), and the other a more yellow version that faded with wear (as commented on by Simcoe). I suspect the Continentals/Militias might have had more variation due to the "home brew"* nature of the dyeing processes.
(* I was going to say "cottage industry" but after bk's comments...... :shock: )
I like them. The mix of white-edged and plain-edged hats, as well as some having white-turnbacks instead of red also gives a nice feel of semi-uniformity.
The green is not really that outrageous and is pretty tame by macaroni standards... now; if Charles Fox had taken it upon himself to equip a regiment... they WOULD have been well dressed!
(Perhaps it is as well he was in opposition.)
