Scenario: Guard Attack at Waterloo
My buddy is getting ready to play-test the Gaurd Assualt scenario for Waterloo. He has 28mm armies and has all the units called for in the scenario book. We are using a 12x6 table and seem to be able to fit every thing on it. We were discussing the set up today and we were'nt sure how far apart to set the two armies. His plan is to take the game on the road, as a participation game, first at our local hobby shop and then maybe one of the big US cons. In a participation game, time is valuable. So we want to make sure we don't waste time by having the armies too far apart, or get a skewed result because we started too close together. Any suggestions of how far apart (for our table size and 28mm ranges) the two armies should start the scenario? We were thinking at or close to arillery long range? As an intersting aside; We read where the Guard advanced in squares. I see there has been some discussion on the movement rate of squares. From start to rout, the whole attack took around 20 minutes (as best we can tell). Wouldn't a square movement-rate similar to a column-rate be more accurate? Thanks for any help or suggestions. M, Set up at long artillery range or just o/s should be fine. With regards to square movement rates - you may wish to use the Optional Rules that allow for "Hollow" squares to advance at the same speed as Line. DB
