Paul, I suggest: 1 x Company command; 3 x Platoons & 1 x Support Platoon. A circa 1943 German Company is below:
The US Company would be virtually identical apart from the weapons company. Both support and weapons companies can really have what ever standard support weapons you wish.
Basing is 3 figs per base for infantry sections; 2 figs per base for LMG and weapons sections and either 1 or 2 figs per base for platoon command units.
The company commander has 4 figs to his base – as he’s the top man!
