Changing orders /emergency limbering of artillery
Two more questions... 1. page 24 says that the CIC's change of order table require rolls of 6-7-8 depending on nationality. The play sheet says 8-9-10 as for brigadiers BUT with a modifier of +2 if the order is given by the CIC. I assume the play sheet is right. Not a big deal because it really comes to the same thing but probably should be picked up in a future errate. 2.On page 30, example C there is reference to consulting something called " the Emergency Limbering of Artillery Table". I can't find this anywhere in the rules or on the playsheet...I suspect it doesn't exist, but can anyone confirm this? Thanks Chris

Chris, Brigadiers change orders for their own brigades on an 8 or more on 2D6, if Prussian, or a 9 or even 10 or more for other nationalities. these are modified slightly depending if the guy is exceptional, or a poltroon. C-inC's get a +2 to their dice roll, which effectively means they change orders on a 6,7 or 8 or more, on 2D6. I'm sorry if it appeared confusing, but the idea is that brigadiers are less liekly to take the initiative and change orders at will. Also, you can only make on C-inC roll per turn, and one Brigadier roll - per army. That really limits your order-changing options, and makes it pretty important to have a plan! The emergency limbering thing was an editing mess-up, and that'll dissapear in the errata. Somehow it was imported from the Napoleonic rules. Our artillery is a lot less mobile, and consequently the guns don't get a last-ditch chance to get away. they have to fight it out or get overrun. Therefore, please ignore any reference to the emergency limbering rule. Best Wishes, Angus Konstam www.edinburghwargames.com

Thanks again Angus. The command stuff makes sense. I eventually found the emergency limbering table in the morale rules but I am relieved to know that it doesn't apply in SYW! Regards Chris
