Late war anti tank section
Why does a late war British/Amercian/German infantry anti tank section cost the same as a rifle section?
Both perform the same against infantry/artillery targets but the anti tank section has an enhanced fire factor against armoured units. I can't see why they cost the same points. :?
Thanks
Simon
Simon,
You're absolutely right!
I suspect it's a typo as the Russian value seems a bit odd as well. I'll consult my original notes and get back to you.

Dave
May I suggest that this factor should be added to the units basic cost as are flame throwers?

There aren't any points for assault rifle sections as well.
Simon
Simon,
Points cost for you re: assault rilfes.

Integral AT rifles are limited to assault engineer sections of all nations and Russian rifle sections from 1941 onwards, which is mainly due to the sheer numbers available to the Soviet army after their experiences in the Finnish war. No other units may have integral AT rifles.
OUT OF AMMO FOR UNITS WITH INHERENT AT WEAPONS.
Any rifle, SMG or assault engineer section additionally armed with inherent AT weapons is considered out of ammo for its AT weapons on any roll of 5 or less when firing AT weapons. The unit is then replaced with a standard rifle, SMG or assault engineer unit.
This out of ammo rule does not apply to dedicated AT sections.
(The out of ammo ruling may be modified for scenario purposes to: 7 or less if availability is limited & 3 or less is availability is abundant, say Berlin 1945.)
BRITISH PIAT AVAILABILITY
The availability of PIAT's within the British Army tended to be less than that of either the panzerfausts or bazookas within German or US armies. Thus standard British infantry companies are limited to one AT unit.
However British Carrier Platoons, Carrier Troops of Recce Regiments and Support Troops of Armoured Car Regiments, did have a higher PIAT availability and may employ integral AT weapons or AT units as per the US ratio.
AT SECTIONS
Players please note that AT sections, (AT Rifle, panzerschreck, bazooka, etc.,) only fire with their respective AT weapons, they have no other form of firepower. They are considered to be dedicated AT teams, whose personal weapons are simply pistols or SMG’s. Thus they may only fire their respective AT weapon and are limited to the range of those weapons, i.e. 4” <6”>.

Infantry Units with Anti-Tank Grenades
Hi Dave
With all this talk of late war anti tank weapons I was just wondering how the rules handle sections with hollow charges and grenades.
In addition do you have weapons factor information for RCL 75mm and RCL 105mm?
Jim,
If you are considering equipping sections with specialist kit, such as hollow chrages, AT mines, etc, I suggest you apply the +2 close assault factor - "AT weapons vs. AFV's without infantry support", to represent this. This would only apply if in close assault soley with enemy AFV's.
You would have to clearly identify such sections to avoid any confusion! Perhas one figure in the section equipped with such mines, (I know Peter Pig produce a nice set of 15mm German late war tank hunters armed with mines and hollow charges).
If using the points system I would both increase such a sections cost by 5 points and limit availabilty.
As for recoiless rifles class them as firing HE, thus the 75mm has values of AT = 2/AI = 2 and the 105mm with AT = 4/AI = 4. (I'm not aware off the top of my head that they had any special AT capability.)
