Retiring infantry.
In the rules for Assault (5.6) it states formed troops may not voluntarily retire or withdrawl from charge range however skirmishers, unformed units and artillery are exempt from this rule and may retire. Under the Engage rules (5.7) it states that infantry may not retire but makes no mention of skirmishers or unformed troops. Is this an oversite? May skirmishers and unformed infantry retire under Engage orders? I recently played in a game where players interpreted their troops withdrawl out of musketry range from one unit simply as an advance towards another unit that was further off to another flank. Regards John.

J, As long as one unit within the brigade is within musketry range of the intended brigade target, and therefore complying with the brigade order, the rest may withdraw. But at least one unit must remain within range at all times. DB
