T' internet is a wonderful thing
How did we manage pre internet?
I'm at a loss - its a wonderful invention that allows you to talk with people that you'd never meet and generally wax lyrical (or bullshit in my case) about wargaming
This week I went one step further and broke those internet rules about meeting axe murderers and the like and visited the home of a fine gentleman (that's actually a huge complement as he's an Aussie :D )who post on this site. I've met John Baxter previously, but this time while on a visit to Melbourne John invited me around to his home to meet his family and see his figures. His wife cooked a lovely meal that I sat down to with his family. My children have grown up these days so one of the highlights was being interrogated by 2 pre teenage children, I tried to be on my best behaviour and didn't wear my anorak and had a shower beforehand in the hope that I might convey a favourable impression on his wife that we wargamers can occasionally be normal, even presentable - she was very kind and hope that John will pass on my thanks to her.
John's collection is pretty impressive, I thought I could paint reasonably well but seeing John's figures was a treat. I hate using the word awesome so we'll settle for simply magnificent 8) . In the course of our conversation it became evident that John has an unhealthy appetite for swapping AB heads but then that's another story and whats more perhaps the old adage of "what goes on on tour, stays on tour should apply." He should post more pics though and you'll see what I mean
Now at this point I should say that if anyone here is looking for a book, ask John, he has a huge collection - and he's very knowledgeable - I've never met an aussie that could read before  - mind come to think of it quite a few of the books had pictures
Seriously, I had a thoroughly good time and am indebted to John and his family for the highlight of my short trip. Many thanks and hoping that I have the chance to reciprocate someday, best wishes
Kerry
Take it you managed to work the 21-18 score line into the conversation?

No I didn't and I had the good grace not to wear my Welsh rugby shirt :)
I did ahem, skite somewhat the following day to John C, Tony and Nic at Eureka - I managed to talk about both the union and league
they did bring up something about the recent NZ vs OZ cricket tests but that was a late goal I reckon so I felt I was still the winner at 2-1
Kerry is too kind. I am just angling a return visit so I can throw some of those 10,000 Naps in my tuckerbag..
