Table size
Hello people, Here is something I have not seen asked before, and to be honest I can not make up my mind. The problem I have is, my new wargames room is nearly finished, but what size table do I use, the choices are 6x6 or 8x4, it has to be one or the other, and no I cant move and swap as needs change, once up it stays up. I wargame in 28mm so you see my dilema. Any advice would be great.
Just a thought/curiosity, it sounds like you could accommodate an 8' length and a 6' width. but 8x4 or 6x6 suggests that you might not be allowed to build a 6x8 because it would too dominate the space. Could the room accomodate 8x6 on game day? If so, you might consider a hinged drop leaf/gate leg setup so that your 6x6 could be 6x8 on game day, or even doing that on both ends, 4x6 could be 8x6 on game day. I admit, I haven't built one but I'm trying to figure out how to re-vamp mine. I find that my 4x8 really doesn't have enough depth (space to deploy out of artillery range and for a reserve line - especially for defenders) for my battles, and I play in 15mm.
Hope this helps,
Phil
Thanks for that, but it is a dedicated wargames room so no permission needed from the boss. But the shape of the room dictates the size ie 8x4 with a 2ft walk down each side or turn the table side ways against the back wall giving 6x6 and 2ft walk each side. and because of cabinets underneath I cant chop and change it.
8 x 4 for certain
you jammy so and so
