It has been way to quiet lately ... I hope it's not fall-out over the reputation of George Washington. :? I'm been working on stuff for Historicon this July. I finished the 23rd Foot; the 2nd NY Continentals; a dozen Hessian Jager and a couple of generals. Next up are the 71st Highlanders, the Hessian Lieb Regiment (their flags are way too cool!) and some more British Artillery. My buddy from St. Louis is supplying some AWI stuff for us, but all his collection is Continentals/Americans ... So I am doing double duty getting extra British and Hessians finished. We had intended to do the Monmouth scenario from book I, but we will be short of many of the necessary elite units. I may try something from the NY/Long Island campaign or a fictional scenario or both. It all depends on what we get finished and have to work with. I would post some pictures, but alas, I can't quite figure out how to do it. If I can get over my brain fart, I'll be glad to share. I did finish a play-test of the rules and the game worked wonderfully. How do you guys normally keep casualties? I have small markers for DPs that worked just fine, but I was using casualty rings and I didn't like them ... made the figures look silly. Thanks for any help. Mike B

I was trying to remove paint that I'd applied too thickly on some Philadelphia Light Horse, but several wife-scheduled out-of-town trips and a parking-valet-wrecked MGB has derailed my schedule. I had been investigating whether something I'd read about removing paint with Future floor wax would work; and after two weeks of neglect the wax hardened into a clear acrylic puck. It was kinda neat -- I could see three of the figures suspended inside the puck. Today, I finally set them free with acetone.

I had a British Green MGB back in the 80's. God I loved that car. But it had its share of electirc problems. I had a steep driveway and more than once I had to roll the car down the drive and pop the clutch to get her started. One day, rolling down the drive I wasn't paying attention and had the door open while it rolled down the incline ... and right into my wife's car. Cruch ... one bent backwards MGB door with accompaning bad electric system. I ended up trading it in on a Toyota pickup truck, one of the sadest days of my life. :( I've never tried to un-paint a miniature. If need be, I just paint over it. OR buy new stuff. !!!! Mike B

I just use a paper log for casualties and a marker for DP. Right balance for me between table top clutter and admin. OK, what GW fallout? I am way out of touch having moved house in the beginning of May and then three days later gone on holiday to New England! Talk about lousy timing. So just got the phone and internet back and no chance of any painting figures until the new house is in better order. So that will be around 2010 then. Did manage a few detours on holiday so got to see Fort Stanwix( but not Oriskany drat), Fort Henry, Fort William Henry, Saratoga, Fort Ticonderoga, Boston, Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution- the oldest commissioned warship AFLOAT!!!!!! (US Navy emphasis). Surprised I got away with that much and thanks to Ronan and others for their suggestions. It seems everytime we do a beach vacation I find some fort for us to visit. At one fort visit my wife and I were in line to get in and there were two couples in front of us. The two wives turned to my wife, smiled and said: "We love these fort things. For every fort there is a mall!" Every time I find a new fort to visit my wife reminds me of the mall-quote. Mike B

Mikeb Yes I agree on the 'ringing' method of casualty markers My prefered method is VERY small dice, Green = DPs, Red = Casualties, Yellow = removed casualties so it is easy to see when you (or more likely I) reach dispersal or maral test level, Blue = figures that aren't there ie My unit has 24figs but OB calls for 22... I place them on a base with a single officer figure for easch unit and find they are quite unobtrusive... GJ

@Johnny: Parking valet = guy who parks cars; It's also called a "parking attendant" here. I'm not sure what it would be called in the UK ... parking squire? parking gentleman's gentleman? Glad you worked out 'MGB' though. @mikeb: how long did you have your 'B'? Maybe it's time to get another! I had just received mine back after an engine transplant that somehow took 17 months. I had it for five days before the parking valet wrecked it. The little car is currently having its bodywork repaired. Engine, etc., seem to have survived without damage. I've been warned by several former British sports car owners, "Don't give up the MGB; you'll regret it." @Paul: The vacation sounds great. Tell us more!

It does seem to be a quiet time. I've been distracted by life and other periods and after a couple of months of limited gaming activity am only just getting going again. And that is non-AWI related... Will be reorganising my blog as well soon. Only AWI related activity was getting a copy of: Journal of an expedition against the rebels of Georgia in North America under the orders of Archibald Campbell, Esquire, Lieut. Colol. of His Majesty's 71st Regimt., 1778 via the British Library. I'm resisting reading it in detail as I'll end up wanting to game something related to it! Andy
