US Airborne
Here's some WW2 airborne I painted today I think they look realy good, lots of work on them, 2-3 diffrent color layers on each part. I think I have found the perfect combination of colors for the M42 uniform I even tried painting eyes of these guys, for the first time in like a year and a half, I gave up trying to do it long ago, but decided to try, their eyes are the size of dinner plates, but it was the best I could do

What size they are? And can I share my method of eyepainting? You can even now repair "the size of dinner plates", simply by adding flesh color around the eyes..

They are 28mm, Artizan to exact I did try to fix up the eyes , and they were ALOT bigger before I painted some flesh around them. I simply don't have the brush control to paint them right.

Been enjoying watching your figures come along and your painting improve over the last 12 months or so gunfreak. These paras are top notch and having recently painted up an entire regiment for a friend in 20mm the colours are bang on. May I suggest adding a brown wash over the model for a more dirty combat look and it will really pick out the detail of these lovely models. I've found the new games workshop brown wash to be really excellent for giving my WW2 guys that combat look. Martin

Thanks. Yeah I've tried many colors for M42, and seen many diffrenct versions painted, and most are to brown, My M42 uniform hanging in the closet is very gray/brownish. Especaly after a few days in the field.

Hi GF, Your figures are looking really cool and progressing all the time. May I suggest a little tip for the eyes? Paint the eyes before the flesh of the face as when you add the flesh later it blends the white in better (Also a very light grey is not so strong as white). Also I found a dark blue (I use humbrol prussian blue) looks best for the centre, black is too harsh and light blue to bright and I always put them facing a direction left or right in a corner not straight ahead. helps concentrate them so they don't look lost in white. Really enjoying your figure painting. Best regards Paul P Scotland http://napoleonicsinminiature.blogspot.com/

Your progress is coming along and your getting better all the time.I like the Artizan miniatures as well and I own some Fallschirmjäger yet to be painted.I was also thinking of some Airborne too. After giving my models it's base coat of black, the first thing I paint is the eyes. It's the best method as you don't need to repaint any flesh while your working the eyes to the desired shape and size. You can add color to the eyes if you wish, but anything 25mm and under is completely unnecessary.White with a black oval line through the center will look the part. The trick to eyes is little is best.In this I mean you don't want your eyes to be too wide between the upper and bottom lids. You can view my blog below and see if you like my suggestion, as that is how I handled my eyes. I hope this helps some. Cheers Christopher P.S.Good Luck on however you decide to do them! :D
