Wagram Big Game 1809Hi,
I'll be leaving the blow by blow descriptions to the respective senior commanders but I thought I'd share some of the pics I took today:

I'm not sure how to load pics directly onto here but there were some super soldiers there...
Apologies for the poor camera work
Regards
Malcolm

Thanks for that! I managed to find enough time to take a small number of snaps myself (15 in all), which can be viewed as a "Slideshow" here:

really good looking photos gents
I must time an UK visit to one of these big games :lol:
looking at the pics, but not having read anything about wagram for a number of years i get the impression that the table could be divided into a no of sectors to fight smaller games as the photos suggest that the action took place around a number oof villages
true or false ? i'll have read up in the next few days
Is it possible to split this into a no of scenarios? - not so much fun or such a spectable I know but plausible? :idea:
Hi Valleyboy,
Yes - you could easily splity the battle into a number of different sections and game each section separately. Indeed, certain parts of teh battle were bigger than some pretty substantial stand alone battles. Over 300,000 men were ionvolved - and, as such, Wagram is twice the size of Waterloo. Also, Wagram was a big battle, not just in terms of numbers used, but also space and although different parts of the battle influence each other, you could replicate that with very little difficulty by special scenario rules - eg:- (1) time with which certain objectives need to be met, (2) withdrawal of forces to other sectors, (3) introduction of forces from other sectors etc Doing it that way, you could also introduce a number of 'what if' possibilities in each sector.
One of the nice things about doing a battle such as Wagram in that way is that you can really home in on the detail of exactly what happened in a particular sector and why.
List of possible Wagram engagements that immediately springs to mind:-
1. Oudinot's attack on the first day;
2. Davout vs Rosenberg + Nordmann;
3. Davout vs Rosenberg + Nordmann with Archduke John appearing in the 'nick of time' (that woudl pprobably involve additional reinforcements being rushed to Davout; and
4. Bellegarde vs Bernadotte (ie the demise of the Saxons).
There are many more possibilities.
Rgds
