Wargames Illustrated
Was really hoping that the Perry's would announce some new AWI releases to coincide with the AWI theme in the latest Wargames Illustrated, now I remember why my heart sank when they announced the British and French Napoleonics all that time ago !!

dave,
intelligence reaches me from Perry-land that Alan is at work both on some more Continentals and ...the French :twisted: I get the impression things are still at quite an early stage, but we could see new releases in the coming months...

Would be nice if the re-did their Foundry Range?

Dear Alan
It's approaching Christmas and we know that you must be preparing some festive goodies for all of us who have spent our children's inheritance on your figures. You know that we love you very much (in that special way that wargamers feel towards their favourite sculptors) and are very much hoping that we can give you lots and lots more money to finance luxury holidays for you and Jill, and of course to help you buy more greenstuff. So in the spirit of Christmas, could we please have the following:
- Continental light infantry in caps;
- Armand's Legion;
- Lauzun's Legion;
- Northern militia (this is a trick request because we know you have some already 8) )
- British Guards;
- Continentals in South Carolina caps;
- Black Continentals;
- Brunswick dragoons;
- Lee's Legion infantry;
- Volunteers of Ireland;
- Philadelphia Associators;
- Hessian looters;
- British deserters (who I believe were usually called "Perry");
- Peter Andre, the famous spy.
Any time over the next 5 years is fine :D
Your adoring public.

Dammit, Giles, how many times do I have to tell you? Foot Guards go at the TOP of the list. :roll: :roll: :roll:
Incidentally, in addition to the "Plundering Perrys" I also found in the ranks of the 23rd one Richard Hammond and one James May (both discharged as no longer fit for service) and a certain Jeremiah Clarkson.....who deserted.

- Peter Andre, the famous spy.
Do you mean Major John Andre, the British officer hanged as a spy for assisting Benedict Arnold's treason; or Peter Andre, whom Wikipedia describes as "an English-born Australian singer–songwriter and television personality"?

Perry AWI
Great responses chaps, I like the sound of the French.Giles you missed the Barner Light infantry for the Saratoga campaign off of your request list, agree with all the rest !!

Giles, Dave, Ronan,
the northern militia, as we know, are in the pipeline and coming soon. Giles and I have seen some early castings. Alan is definitely thinking about Lee's Legion infantry, as we've talked about it :D I deduce he is also thinking about more of the distinctive continental or state regt types. We know Alan also cherishes the idea of some vignettes, for example he has mentioned the wagon carrying wounded infantry as pictured by Della Gatta.
The French too are on their way...
In terms of the wider wish lists any of us may have, I put my ha'p'th in for some American command personalities. I think these would really help to move sales up a gear in the US.

Talking of personalities, I suggested to Nic at Eureka that the (hopefully) forthcoming militia dragoons/dragoons in tarletons would benefit from a Light Horse Harry Lee figure and he seemed quite keen.

........... Not to speak out of turn, but if US sales are an issue; one of the things that I hear is that it is hard for American vendors to get stock. Large orders are a particular problem. Other than that, I am starting to see more and more Perry minis in armies at the conventions.

The news of some new releases for the AWI range is very, very welcome. I very much like Giles' list and would hope he wouldn't mind too much if I tagged some mounted southern militia types onto his Santa list..... :roll:
Axebreaker- 10-23-2009
Giles please don't forget to add Washington and Lee's horse to that list! :D
Cheers

Christopher,
I would deduce from the recent discussion I had with Alan about Lee's Legion infantry that he's definitely 'in the zone' for some southern campaign legion cavalry too.

For a long time I have been putting off buying Perry figures but looks like now I am going to have to jump on the band wagon.
I don't like the size variation but now believe that they will be the only company to do the AWI i in all its detail (perhaps except Trident Designs and given time)
