Hi Folks,
Jut curious; will the rules focus mainly on the european side of this conflict, or will other areas including the French & Indian Wars be covered also?

I would like to collect Brits, but most of their land based actions appear to have been in America, other than some "descents" along the north french coast...

Dear Scott,

The rules concentrate on the war fought in Europe. If we expanded it to include India, North America or the Caribbean then it would have got out of hand! The idea was that anyone who wants to adapt them for these far-flung conflicts can knock themselves out, but we're sticking to the main theatres of war, thank you very much!

There's a website out there called www.Britishbattles.com, which has pages covering half a dozen battles the British were involved in, fought in Germany. Another great site -
www.kronoskaf.com/syw gives detailed accounts of most of these actions, along with orders of battle. Finally, the rules themselves contain a small introductory scenario - Emsdorf 1760 - where a solitary British unit makes an appearance! In the real battle it did well enough to earn battle honours for its regimental flag, but that's another story...

Granted, the British fought as part of a coalition army alongside the Hanovarians and Hessians (just like they did in Marlborough's day), but that just adds colour to your force. The other useful trick for you is to paint units up as British, and then substitute their flags for Hanovarian ones if you need to fight a particular scenario. The uniforms were similar enough to let you get away with that.

Thanks for the link and info.
So it seems quite a colourful force of varied allied contingents could be assembled including British regiments.
The only thing that concerns me a little is painting those fiddly tall Mitre caps, and the drummer of those British light horsemen - wow, thats a colourful jacket indeed! ;-)

When using figures for dual nationality, ie. Brits or Hanoverians, be sure to match the correct colour thread running through the lace usually blue or red depending on regiment, some times a double row sometimes single.

Shews up very well on white lace particularly on 6mm figures
