Just bought the rules and getting ready for our first game. They look very good. I do have a question regarding retreats/routs in charges. In Chapter 6 (Charges) on page 29 under "If the Defenders fail", it indicates that the defender immediately carry out half an involuntary move away from the chargers (I assume not waiting until the involuntary move phase of the next turn). However, on page 78 (Appendix C: A Walk Through) towards the bottom of the first column, it indicates the French defender who suffers a retreat result during a charge receives a retreat marker and moves in the next involuntary move phase. It doesn't appear the defender takes an immediate half involuntary move as previously referenced. Not sure which is correct. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks. Brad

B,

Hopefully Angus et al have no changed this from GdeB. Confused

If forced to retreat/rout during a charge move the effected unit will take an initial half compulsory move to the rear during the charge phase.

If the unit is unable to or fails to rally in the following morale phase it will then take a further full compulsory retreat/rout move in the next turns compulsory phase.

Hope that helps.

DB

It just shows you what happens when you write things in haste! The "walk-through" was written at the gallop, to meet a deadline, and as a result a few boo-boos crept in. The correct version is the one given in the rules, rather than the walk-through. I'll add it to my list of errata.

Oh, sorry for taking a while to reply. I was away promoting a book, and then my hard drive died, leaving me bereft of internet access!

Best Wishes,
