I have been working on some Perry plastic ACW for a change from my AWI. I still need to varnish, base and give them a flag.

| Now they are very nice. I was resisting buying them-but now I have changed my mind! |

Perhaps it's down to the absence of a varnish coat, Pat, but these figures all have a superb 'inner glow', especially noticeable on the flesh of both the men and horses. I hope the varnish doesn't take that effect away!
My only question--in my ignorance of ACW uniforms and horse furniture--is whether the horse blankets/shabraques could have been done in a colour which contrasted more with the trousers of the cavalrymen? Visually, it struck me that your excellent highlighting of both loses a bit of 'impact' in colours that are so close together. (Perhaps because it is still 'WIP', there are 'filters' or washes yet to come that alter the final look of both items?)
They are very special, and I look forward to seeing the finished unit! _________________ Bryce Allen |

Thanks guys for your kind remarks
Hi Bryce, I use the Kevin Dallimore Blackfriars varnish method so hopefully they will still be nice and matt when finished. I will update this with some more pictures when they are done.
I am also unsure of ACW uniforms and horse furniture, so just used the picture on the box that the figures came in as a painting guide. You are right though about the horse blankets/shabraques could have been done in a colour which contrasted more with the trousers of the cavalrymen. I guess I have been a bit lazy as having both in the same colour speeds things up a bit. So much to paint and not enough time to do it. |

Finished the bases, varnishing and flag on my first unit. Confederate cavalry next.
I have also painted up a Lawmen Posse plus additional figures depending on how the campaign progresses, for a lotow xmas campaign I am doing over the holidays.
Have a great holiday. |

Exquisite - I really do envy your talent for highlighting, especially flesh tones.
Happy holidays to you too |

Thanks guys for your kind words.
I also painted up a winners trophy for the campaign and a little something for my mate who is putting us all up for the weekend and hosting the event, a prize fighting set.
