Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding unformed units,
1/ IF units are moving through dense woods (severe terrain) and come within firing range of each other how is firing handled as I understand it,unformed can only fire if charged or fire on first.
2/If unformed units in dense woods remain stationary for a turn do they loose thier unformed status.
Thanks Again.

Hi again, Carlo. My take on your queries as follows:
1/ Don't forget rule 8.7 - Visibility; in Severe Terrain, opposing units won't even 'see' each other until they are 5cm (3") apart! Except for Skirmishers, once in Severe Terrain, no one fires until someone summons up the courage to charge, and given all the negative modifiers it won't be very effective. Severe terrain is 'melee country'--chaotic short, sharp hand-to-hand encounters where your fate is largely in the hands of the dice-gods. For historical counterparts, think of Shiloh, Chickamauga, or the Wilderness.
2/ The Severe Terrain causes formed infantry to become Unformed; as long as the majority of your unit occupies this terrain, it will stay unformed. (Remaining stationary for a turn does nothing to change this.)
Hope that helps. _________________ Bryce Allen |
