| Just played my first game of British Grenadier and everyone involved had a great time. Some mistakes were made but we are figuring it out and all agreed that BG is a nice set of rules. That made me start wondering-- how does GaG compare? Are the mechanics similar? What about base sizes? |

| After 13 days and 64 views with no responses I have decided to take the plunge and buy the rules. |

MM,
Sorry to have missed you post.
However Brit Gren and Guns at Gettysburg are both based on the General de Brigade rules system, thus are essentially similar.
The only major difference between the rules is the use of disruption points within BG, this is not an aspect of GaG as they pertain to slightly larger and/or higher level games.
Enjoy.

Dr Brown is quite right in terms of the game mechanisms. The games are similar apart from the disruption point system. However there are many differences in the rule sets designed to reflect the changed realities of two conflicts almost a century apart. Weapons are much more effective in GatG as you'd expect. Also BG is designed to portray warfare at quite an intimate level, with some scenarios going tdown to 1:5 troop scale. GatG evidently has to represent some very large, multi-divisional or even multi-corps actions.
