Hi,
Just picked up the rules at Cavalier as I am planning on starting the monster task of finally painting the 25mm FPW collection I have been amassing over the years - only 1200 figures to do!
I am trying to decide on how to base my figures and am torn between:
40mm x 40mm - 4 Prussians or 3 French on a base (also matches Chassepot and Needlegun rules)
50mm x 50mm - 6 Prussian or 5 French (could use 3 bases for Principles of War)
How do other people base their 25mm and how do you handle different unit sizes such as 30 or 16 or 24 figures as in the example scenario in the rulebook?
Also, how do the rules model the differences between the Chassepot and the Dreyse rifles? Most FPW rules I have seen give the Chassepot an advantage for range, but from what I can see, TAYG classes both of them as Breech-loading Rifles?
Many thanks

Hi,
For bases I plan to use 60x40mm six figure bases (French 5 figure bases). I use 50x50mm for 4 Helion figures but they are larger sculpts and think the Foundry's will look "lost".
For the Chassepot, check p.87 Wissembourg scenario. Chassepots are superior breech loaders and get a +1 casualties when firing-not overly generous but perhaps enough to slow the Prussians down!

Thanks I'd missed than on first reading through the rules.
I'm painting up a quick sample 6 figures using the speed painting technique I'm planning on using and I'm going to base them up and see what I think of the look.
thanks
