Hello,
I’m new to General de Brigade and I have a quick question. How does GdB remove casualties?

Are individual figures marked until a whole company/stand is removed or is some kind of roster system used to track battalion strength?

Thanks

Louie

use whatever method you want. Most of the guys I game with use casualty markers until a full stand is removed. This ranges from tiny rocks placed behind the stand, to dead figures with numbers on the base marking casualties taken, to a casualty stand with one dead figure per casualty taken. Another guy places a small coloured plastic ring or washer type thing around the figure and removes the base when all the figures have a ring, it basically sits over the head and rest on the shoulders. One guy in the group hates what he calls the casualty clutter so he keeps everything marked down on roster sheets. In the end it really is personal preference, I like the look of a dead figure behind the unit, it makes the unit look like it's seen some fighting to me so that's what I use.

We use rosters to track casualties, but don't remove bases at all, except for skirmishers. The rationale being that the opposition shouldn't be able to work out how much damage a unit has just by looking at it; units historically would maintain their frontage by filling in gaps from the rear ranks; we used to play Grand Manner and that is how it is done there; odd casualty bases are always the ones that get placed towards table edges and seem to get caught on a sleeve and knocked to the floor Evil or Very Mad
