I have been patiently awaiting my copy of the rules. In the meantime, I tried a small encounter seeing if I could use the playsheets and my Generel de Brigade rules to at least gett started. I wanted to see how the cavalry charges would go. I pitted a mass of Prussians against a holding force of Russian hussars supported by some horse grenadiers.
The hussars didn't stand up very well against the Prussian dragoons. Both regiments were routed!
But they routed far enough away from the horse grenadiers that they fled without unforming their supports. The next turn, the horse grenadiers, thought outnumbered, dispatched the dragoons.
I also tried a small firefight, with the Russians holding a position behind a stone wall. Though the Prussians could advance half their distance and fire without penalty, the cover bonus held down the Russian casualties and their return fire was brutal. The second bound was even worse. Before I knew it, the two Prussian battalions had lost 25% casualties.

I just received my rules yesterday and can't wait to go through them. My forces are just about all rebased and I am excited to set up my first real battle with them |

| You will learn very quickly not to charge formed infantry line frontally. It is usually a suicidal act. |

Winser,
That's a very nice looking game, complete with what looks like a Silesian version of Little Round Top!
Charging formed infantry with anything is dangerous, at least before they've been softened up a bit with casualties. it can be done, but you'll really need the Dice Gods on your side...
best Wishes,
Angus Konstam
