Hi all
First let me say i think GdB are a great set of rules that give a fast play game whilst still capturing the flavour of Napoleonic warfare.
Like Bruce Quarrie without the paperwork!
However, we do seem to have some confusion over the use of skirmishers and their relationship with cavalry.
The rulebook says that skirmishers may not advance towards cavalry.
We in our group have interpreted this to mean that the skirmishers may not advance towards cavalry who can charge them (in arc, in range etc).
So the skirmishers cannot advance whilst in the charge cone (headlights) of the cavalry.
This can lead to the situation of two units of skirmishers approaching a unit of cavalry with one sneaking up while the cavalry is lined up to the other unit.
This brings about a workable solution to the problem but how do other people interpret this?
cheers

Skirmishers may advance towards close order troops - but not get too close (5cms I think). I have often placed skirmishers in thick woods where they shot at cavalry that got too close - but that only happens once in a game.
