Very nice BK - who are the figures by? Colonial wars have never greatly appealed to me but I always like to see nicely painted soldiers!

Phew... finally got some feedback! Thanks Littlearmies!!!
These figures have been in my collection for well over 15 years. The
manufacturer of all these is a company called Redoubt Enterprises. Most of the Zulus come in two parts and one has to join the upper body to the legs permitting an infinite numbers of poses. Am in the process myself of increasing my Zulu army, hence if anyone knows of any compatible figures, either Brits or Zulus that could be used with Redoubts then i would be most grateful. Am putting together a pre-order for some Brits from Black Tree and a new company called Empress. I don't like the look of the new Zulus by Empress so in the main methinks i'll be sticking to Redoubts. Perhaps will order a few packs of Zulus from Black Tree.
So if anyone has any advice please fire away........sharply

PS/ have also got a few Foundry zulus who whilst being dwarfed by redoubt have some nice poses and thus have tried to compensate by building up their bases and trying to discreetly blend 'em in. As such I am
also ordering a few command figures from the Perry's Sudan Brits who i may need to convert a little, but with such stunning poses it is a small price to pay!

How about Old Glory? I'm not a big fan of theirs for armies where my image is of "discipline" - too many figures falling over tussocks of grass for my liking but for armies where you want lots of variation and "freedom" in your figures they can do the job.

Having said that, based on experience of their 15mm ranges you definately need to eyeball each pack before you buy it (I like their 15mm French Line Infantry but loathe their Austrian Line from the same range, for instance). But worth a look perhaps?

Newline Designs do some Zulu War figures - if you look in their "studio gallery" you can see some images. I'm not sure how they are sizewise with Redoubt, which are quite big if I recall.

Thought your considerations over Old Glory figures to be v. interesting, Littlearmies. As such am gonna place an order for a couple of packs just to compare them with Redoubts for style and size. Checked out Newline on their site but thought they looked a bit wooden. The Zulus at least. Thought same with Empress, the new manufacturer but thought their Brits looked spiffing so am preparing an order. In fact am gonna place small orders to several manufacturers ie Black Tree (Zulus), Old Glory (Z), Empress (Brits), Perry (Sudan Brits - will make minor conversions - Light Inf command irresistible) before placing large Redoubt order. Will post findings on both quality, compatibility and delivery!

um.... was your question spoken in zulu? Ah..don't worry, after working on these little blighters for so long have become quite proficient in the art of translation; "aMke" means 'make' in zulu for the ignorant.

They're all Redoubt with the very odd Foundry thrown in although they are almost pygmy-like compared to Redoubts....
