Just finished two American artillery crews and two three-pound cannon.
I am priming my next batch of AWI goodies:
1. 12 Hessian Jagers
2. 3 Mounted Americans; A General and Staff
3. 16 Continental Infantry
4. 16 British Infantry; 17th foot
5. 1 British General on really cool horse.
That should keep me occupied for a while.

Tonight I was finally able to break out the paints and brushes and get back to working on the Perrys' Queen's Rangers. I am fortuanted that Giles posted such detailed photos that I can actually see the brush strokes.
Anyway On the bench I have
24 Casting Queen's Rangers Battalion (3 stands to go)
6 Castings QR's Hussars
( Already Painted the 3lbder and the amussette)
12 Hessian Jaegers
Von Bose / Turmbach (24 Castings)
What I really need is a few lessons in basing with "garnish" and painting faces.
anyway it is good to be back. _________________ "Shorten your stirups, check the click of your trigger and balance your blade....ridin' a raid"

Just finished the 71st Highlanders!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Next up is the Hessian Leib Regiment. I'll start on them tonight or tomorrow. As tomorrow is the 4th of July, I feel a little ashamed to be painting a Hessian unit, but alas, I have less that 14 days until Historicon.
For anyone going to Historicon, we will be playing our BG! game Saturday during the day. We will probably be playing in the Lampeter Room (where the ancients tournaments and flea market are). Feel free to stop by and say hello. This is a pick up game among friends so it won't be listed in the program. I will be running an ECW tournament all day on Friday, so you can always stop by then to see when and where the BG! game will be played.
If all goes well, I plan host a participation game at Cold Wars in March.
Happy Fourth of July to everyone!

I need to get back on the horse again. I started painting, didn't like how thick the paint was and stopped. After a couple months of avoidance and a few tips from folks online, I'm going to give it another go. _________________ Then let us fill a bumper, and drink a health to those

Civilians of Charlestown for the Bunker Hill Game.
S-397 - Battle of Bunker Hill, 17 June 1775
Sat. 10 AM, 4 hrs, 8 players
GM: Richard Claydon and Boston Trained Bands
AWI 28mm, Rules: British Grenadier
On the night of June 16, in response to intelligence that the British were soon to attempt the capture of undefended high ground around Boston,
Colonial forces stealthily occupied Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill, constructed an earthen redoubt on Breed's Hill, and built lightly fortified lines
across most of the Charlestown Peninsula. In response, the British attacked. Over age 14 only.
and again at
S-398 - Battle of Bunker Hill, 17 June 1775
Sat. 4 PM, 4 hrs, 8 players

well its taken me a whole year to finish of most of my lead mountain of french and prussian napoleonic stuff and carthaginian figures but i have done it .
NOW its time for me to lock and load, and start to crack on with my AWI figures.
First am going to paint up a few yank regiments P.M gave me a list of all his stuff that he has done which is a gurt load so i am planning not to double up on any units in the rebel camp! as we go to the same club.
so if there are any unusual regiments that look a bit different on the table then i would like to know please ..
so am starting of with the 3rd new jersey (jersey blues ) as think that there coat was a light tan or drab brown with blue facings ? which makes a them a bit different ? what i can gather is that they where fully equipped at the start which makes a change .so will paint up 80% of them in the uniform and the rest mix and match kit..
happy gaming all ...
p.s paul M you have no fear mate i will NOT be painting up any wooden tops / bloody hats (british guards)
as i know how much you love them and i HATE them but as for mee light infantry matey, am affraid thats another matter 8o) !
short and sharpe .. Swift and Bold long live The Rifles !
can the mod amalgamate them any more i bet they bloody can !!!and will do. BUT they dare not touch the queens 5 regiments of guards ....makes me sick.. 8( its not what you know, but who you know. thats white hall for you.. lads |

This is the approach I adopted when painting my later American units - I picked regiments with nice uniforms or distinctive flags. A perusal here might provide some ideas: http://gilesallison.blogspot.com/search/label/American%20infantry |

Hi lads
Could any of you fill me in on the coats and facing on these two regiments i think that the 3rd has brown coats white facing early years, which i am happy to go with BUT
i dont have a clue on the 4th ?
I have done the 2nd in green facing and it looks like some books say buff? so might do the 4th in buff!
if some one could get back to me before the week is over that would be great .As it would be nice to get them done by the 14th august ,as i was hoping to supply some troops to PM for are big game .that weekend.
many thanks .... |
