Having finally succumbed I have placed an order for some Saxon Dragoons and Cuirassiers which Nic says will be ready to ship shortly. I was wondering about infantry and artillery though. Though it may be a bit early anyone have any ideas on what would be compatible with Eureka.
Also their is supposed to be some Eureka Saxon infantry but I have not been able to find it in the on-line lists and I didn't want to bother Nic. Are they available, and if so where can I find them on the site? |

With Eureka's normal high level of efficiency my first order, Cuirassiers and Dragoons arrived today. The castings have a small amount of flash which is easy to remove. The details is very nice and should paint up well. (Well if anyone except me paints them)
Now all I need to do is get some information on the Saxon uniforms.
If I have one complaint about Eureka it is that there are too many ranges of figures I want:) |

Can anyone tell me whether the Saxon Graf Rutowsky Light Dragoons which the Project SYW says wereremounted as cavalry in 1761 were with the French army or did they hang out with the Austrians?
It's OK looks like this regiment may not have reformed after the mass dissertians from the pesky Prussians. |

As regards Infantry, I am not quite sure what figures to put into a 20 man battalion of Saxons since Eureka has such a nice variety in their 100 club lists.
Has anyone done any Saxon battalions yet? and what figures did they include? |

Actually I'm having trouble finding evidence of Saxon battalions large enough to have 20 figures per the chart in the rule book.
Project SYW seems to show that prior to Pima battalions had around 5 companies of 95 musketeers and 1 of 97 grenadiers plus some regimental staff. This works out at about 11-12 musketeer figures and 2-3 grenadier figures per battalion. Post Pima the reformed battalions were generally even smaller.
So how do I organise the Saxons. Any help would be appreciated.
PS can I use mounted officers as battalion/regimental commanders in Saxon units? |
