Hi Guys & Girls,

I have some wonderful Perry models which have a small foot print for a base (Around 10mm)

Victrix which are the same scale have some very Dynamic poses etc.. and have a larger foot print (base about 20mm?).

Perry can be base 6 to a 40mm x 40mm base easily and looks great and feels right as well for the era?

I can cut down the Victrix bases but I prefer not to spend the money on an experiment.

Can you comfortably base 5-6 Victrix models to a 40mm x 40mm base?

Failing this can you mount 5-6 models on a 50mm x 40mm base without breaking rules, upsetting game play etc..

Basically I want to show a battalion the same way as using Perry models but the other alternative is to base both Perry and Victrix models as 4 per 40mm x 40mm base.

Would anyone who has tried cutting down the Victrix model bases to fit 5-6 per base let me know how they got on?

I love the Vitrix Plastics and plan to get the full plastic Napoleonic range as they a released. (And of course the Perry ones too Wink )

Happy Gaming and Many Thanks!

Allan

Hi Guys,

I also posted this question over at TMP.

I should add the bases that are included in the Perry box include 45mm x 40mm bases.

Perry models fit nicely on these bases.

I was wanting to see if anyone had had any luck placing 6 Victrix Figures on the same base comfortably?

I know this porbably means cutting into the bases for the Victrix models and while the perry and Victrix are the same scale, the Victrix models do at times had a wider stance in their legs (running etc...).

I also am aware of the Basing standard for GdB in 25mm-28mm. 15 mm give or take 1mm - 2mm per figure.

I would much prefer to use plastic bases over MDF.

Happy Gaming and Thank you,

Allan

I can only say that I purchased two boxes of Victrix British, painted them and then.........!?!

Eventually I made the decision to cut back the bases to fit any stand. The other problem is that, unlike Perry, the figure bases stand quite high and do not taper, as do the Perry. Not to flash. I am not going ahead with the Victrix range and now that Perry offer British miniatures, I don't have to.

Cheers

I am not too worried about the hieght of the Victrix bases. More the width and how much "elbow room" the Victrix figures need. I have found that Flames of War Figures bases can also be quite high but I have no problem using filler etc.. to smooth out the base and make it look good.

The Perry models are excellent though and I am more than happy with what I have in them (French and British).

If worse comes to worse I will use the Vitrix for Skirmish games like Sharp Practice etc..

Anyone else?

Cheers,

Allan

I have been trimming my Victrix bases so that they fit the normal base sizes as given in the FAQ here. Oddly the Victrix plastic bases are much thicker than the bases on their white metal figures meaning that the sapeur/porte fannion figures have to be put on a layer of card so as not to look silly beside the plastics !

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the feedback.

Was this the Victrix French or British models?

How did the look ranked up together?

Which poses did you use to make them fit?

Any chance of a picture?

I have found the same thing in relation to figure base thickness with flames of war models. Often Prone machine Gunners have no figure base which is not always a bad thing. Especially when creating a scenic base. I also used card or plasticard to raise the model to match the rest of the figures on a base.

It's good to know the trimming works though Very Happy

I have the French figures but done up as Italians. So far I've only finished these two companies of the Milan Guard, these huge figures are much harder to do then 15's !

Hi, all. New to the website but very interesetd in this debate as I've just started on Perry/ Victrix plastics. I've been gaming 28mm Napoleonics for about 4 years - all figs to date are Perry on 20x25mm bases ( 20x50 for cavalry) - and dont want to rebase my existing division. Also have been using Ever Victorious Armies rules at ratio of 1:40, so approx 20-24 to a batallion. Does anyone have experience as to whether this will work with G de B or do I need to be nearer 1:20 and more compact close order units? Or should I just experiment with a batallion or 2 each side adn see how it works out ??

Look forward to a few thoughts

Thanks

CH Confused
