I like my officers to carry swords but none of the Perryfig AWI American officers seem to be carrying swords. I don't know or care if American officers of this period carried swords, (although I suspect some did), but they're my toys and I want some at least to have a sword.
Does anyone know of any suitable models to match Peryfigs?
Thanks in advance,
DaveB |

Axebreaker,
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply so promptly.
What I meant was I wanted officers actually holding, wielding, waving their swords, not carrying it in a scabbard.
Thanks again,

Hi,
1) Unfortunately, all of Axebreaker's links will only take you to the menu page on the Perry website - you can't acess individual items on their lists from outside.
2) You will struggle to find too many dismounted officers with swords in AWI ranges, as they tended to carry fusils/bayonets, or spontoons (the latter being mainly Continental company commanders and above) by order. However, the following Perry codes - AW49, 65 and 70 - have officers brandishing swords. Although these are ostensibly British packs, the absence of gorgets means they can serve equally well as Continentals.
3) In the Foundry range - which was also done by Alan Perry - pack AWI 1/2 has an officer leaning on his sword (not dramatic enough?), but I think all the British command packs have fusils or spontoons:-

3) Otherwise, you could try the Front Rank range - slightly "tubbier" figures, but about the same height-wise and they'll look ok as single "character" figures. Look for AWC18, 34 & 53 -

AAhh ,I completely understand now,I was a bit curious. well then if you put it that way, then your correct.I suggest some conversion work your choices are limited.File down any exposing hilts and if you don't have any spare swords from other mini's you can make them easy enough.Take some green stuff for the hilt and pommel. Then cut out from a stiff card the shape you wish your sword to be.Layer glue over the card until it's hard and then insert into your green stuff hilt and pommel.Paint as normal.I hope this is of some use.
