The Alexandria expedition in a nutshell
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraser_campaign
Having established themselves in Alexandria, the British CO is informed that supplies are required from Rosetta to the east. A detachment is sent to secure the town. In an uncanny parallel of the South American debacle in the same year, The 31st and Chasseurs Britanniques are surprised and mauled in close quarter fighting in the town.

Stung by the surpise attack, a much larger force is commited and the British dig in before Rosetta, but have inadequate forces and artillery, even with extensive naval support, to cordon off the town completely.

The Thin Red Line. Barely 8 Coys of assorted British troops (35th, De Roll's, 78th highlanders, plus a few 20th LD) are strung out along a 2 mile front North of Rosetta at a small hamlet called Al Hamad. The outpost is surprised by a dawn attack by Mehmet Ali's Albanian troops. Outnumbered 15 to 1 they finally succumb after intense fighting. A few prisoners are taken.

Faced with the arrival of overwhelming numbers of enemy forces up the Nile, the British form square and prepare to withdraw from before Rosetta

Sporadic skirmishing around Alexandria and the lakes continues until a ceasefire and the return of troops to Sicily in September.

They are a mix of Hallmark and Minifigs, with Hallmark guns. De Roll's are Minifigs, the Highlanders and the majority of British Infantry are Battle Honours/AB
