| Everytime I either do a battlefield tour or refight a historic scenario I end full of admiration for the men who were there on the day. Fighting into and through that fortess must have been a real test of metal. |

Cacadores,
You are doing a wonderful job. Thank you very much ! Just returned from Normandy and my WWII re-enacting days are now over, retirement approaching. So its back to painting Napoleonics and refighting Peninsula battles. Corruna , next in August, as it had to be put back a little. Then after the 200th Anniversary of Waterloo in 2015 I'm planning to do a retirement tour of Portugal and Spain !
This series will come in very handy if I come in my own transport, rather than "wimping out" and coming on an organised coach tour.
Well Done. _________________ Simon W |

Thanks a lot. You can always hire a car like I did when you get there: sounds expensive but I reckon a hire car plus a cheap flight is cheaper and easier than driving all the way. And there are B&Bs all over the place, even in August. I reckon it's worth it. I drove all the way the first time though.
Good luck in Corunna, I don't know when I'll get there, as it's a bit out of the way for a battlefields tour - unless you do Moore's retreat, which means travelling round Spain and I'm on a bit of a Portugal obsession at the moment. I'd like to go to Porto (Oporto) next as it's a decent base for seeing quite a few Peninsula clashes.
Hope you manage to get a few photos of Corunna to show us. |
