Splendid! What an excellent way to spend the anniversary. Well done mastering the picture-post technology too...
Is that an actual sandtable?

The table and Napoleonic collection belong to my buddy Greg Simpson. Greg and I are both retired and are lucky to get the free time to paint and play the occasional game.

Greg built the gaming table; 18x6 I believe it is. There is built in storage under the table. For us older folk with pot bellies, the reach can be a long one, but the 6 foot deep table really comes in handy. He uses Geo-Hex terrain tiles on the table.

Greg had (litteraly) thousands of 15 mm Napoleonics, but two years ago he decided to sell off the little fellas and build 28 mm armies. I am thinking he has around 2000 painted so far! He is working on (Calpe) Prussians right now to add to his "Waterloo" collection. We are both big fans of Front Rank and the Calpe stuff. I am so tempted to start on some Penninsula armies. Like I need more miniatures to paint. Shocked

My basement is not nearly as bright or finished as his and the pictures of my AWI stuff are not that great. But I will see what I can do about posting them.

Lovely looking games room and table you have there.

I think we are all working towards retirement with an 18 x 6 table and the time on our hands to use it.

Keep them pictures coming.

Pat.

Lovely stuff and very inspiring!

Just one comment though: the La Haye Sainte model, while in scale vertically, looks to be way out of scale horizontally. Comparing it with your units, the complex looks to be well over 100m long from barn to house.

Mikeb:
18'x6'!
That is A LOT of storage space below the playing surface Shocked !
Excellent.
The walled in table is rather cunning in that it will prevent figures from being inadvertantly leaned on while attempting the full mid-table reach...
It must be tempting to fill it with sand though!
Pass my congratulations to Greg on his Splendid Games Room.

.....not only figures being leaned on , but also stopping them being dragged off table edges >Also with Geo Hex you dont want people leaning on the table and putting their elbows into the foam .. Otherwise you end up with lots of indents and for Geo Hex owners who care ....thats alot of hurt .

Superb looking table.
